PRIVACY POLICY
in compliance with the requirements of the Malaysian Personal Data Protection Act, 2010 (PDPA)
This notice pursuant to Section 7 of the PDPA describes our policy and practices on how we collect, use, and disclose your personal information and sets out how you can seek to access and correct your information.
1. COLLECTING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
The provision of your personal data is voluntary. You may always limit the amount and type of personal information the Penang YMCA receives about you choosing not to provide any personal information as required other than those which are obligatory.
Certain information requested by us are mandatory which you must provide and agree to theprocessing of such mandatory information by us, failing which, we will not be able to provide you information, updates, products, or services relating to your membership with Penang YMCA.
The personal information we collect about you, include but is not limited, to the following:
- personal details such as name, identity card number or passport number, age, gender, race, nationality, date of birth, address, marital status, telephone number, e-mail address, photo, and other details.
- information when you make a booking or utilize our facilities at the Penang YMCA.
- billing and payment status and records; and
- other information that are, have been or may be collected by us, from time to time, in relation to any
- service, transaction, contest, survey, promotion, questionnaire or in communication with us or at events organized or participated by any YMCA in Malaysia or obtained from lawful sources.
2. PROCESSING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
Your personal data, which you provided when you apply to be a Penang YMCA member, make bookings or will provide to us from time to time will continue to be used and processed by us in accordance with our Privacy Policy (as amended, varied or revised from time to time) and applicable laws.
It is necessary for us to process your personal data if you wish to be or remain a member of the Penang YMCA or for us to continue providing the services you requested.
Should you decide not to provide the personal data required, Penang YMCA is unable to proceed with the application for membership and will cease processing the application.
3. DISCLOSURE OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
Your personal information can be assessed by a restricted number of Penang YMCA staff that are involved with the management and administration of members and programmes.
We may disclose your information to any member of the National Council of YMCAs Malaysia or AsiaPacific Alliance of YMCAs or World Alliance of YMCAs, agents, contractors and service providers or individuals such as where we outsource functions and to other third parties such as:
Local and international professional bodies.
Other regulators and government authorities and statutory bodies; and
Any other party deemed necessary for the purposes mentioned above.
4. PROTECTING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
Penang YMCA is committed to safeguard your privacy and every care is taken to ensure that appropriate measures are imposed in the course of collecting, processing, maintaining, or administering your personal information to protect your privacy.
To this end, we are committed in ensuring the confidentiality, protection and security of your personal data made available to us. It is your obligation to ensure that all personal data submitted to and retained by us are accurate, not misleading, updated, and complete in all aspects. For the avoidance of doubt, Penang YMCA and/or its employees or authorized officers or agents will not be responsible otherwise.
5. RETENTION OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
Penang YMCA will store your personal information for as long as it is needed to fulfil the purposes forwhich it is collected or as required by regulatory or for accounting purposes.
In accordance with our data retention policy, in the event any personal data is no longer required, the said personal data shall be destroyed and/or deleted from our records.
6. ACCESSING AND CORRECTING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
You are responsible for providing accurate and complete information about yourself and any other person whose personal information you provide us (for example, your spouse, children, relatives, nominees, guests or third parties). In respect of the personal information of such third parties, you warrant that you have obtained their consent allowing us to process their personal information and you will extend a copy of this Notice to them.
You may at any time hereafter request for access to your personal information, or request to correct the same where the information is inaccurate, incomplete, misleading, or outdated or limit the processing of your personal data, however subject to the exceptions and restrictions as may be contained under the applicable law. If you wish to do so, please contact Penang YMCA at the address above via e-mail or by letter for the attention of The General Secretary.
7. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
Penang YMCA may vary or update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect and keep up with regulatory changes and good business practices by posting it at http://www.ymcapg.com. Please check our Website regularly for the updates.
8. LANGUAGE
This Privacy Policy is issued in both English and Bahasa Malaysia. In the event of any inconsistency or discrepancy between the English and Bahasa Malaysia versions, the English version shall prevail.
9. CONSENT
By applying to be a member of the Penang YMCA, I have read and agree to be bound by this PrivacyPolicy and do hereby consent to the Penang YMCA processing my personal information.
